South Texas HonorBound Champions Becoming Ministers To Men "Champions are made, not born." by Dr. Edwin Louis Cole
A Champion is a man who desires to grow in their relationship with God and become more fully equipped in ministering to men. It is grounded in biblical resources that promote relationships among men. Men will be trained and prepared to “Minister to Men.” Every man has a champion within him. HonorBound Champions are discovering what that champion looks like and how to bring it out. Our Goal is to be more like Christ. Our Vision is to reach every man in our district by reaching one man at a time. Families are under attack, but men can be prepared to be the husband and father God has called them to be. Thirty-six percent (36%) of children live absent from their fathers and only 1 out of 18 men in America are being discipled. This can be changed. Men can be champions in their family, church and community for Christ. Men can be reached for Christ and can win their families. Our Mission is to equip men and challenge them in areas of faith, family, leadership and evangelism. The training requires completion of the following resources: · Dad’s Coaching Clinic (video series) · Personal Holiness In Times of Temptation (video series by Bruce Wilkerson) · Men’s Relational Toolbox (Gary, Greg, and Michael Smalley) · Never Quit (Ed Cole, book and workbook) · Power of Potential (Ed Cole, book and workbook) · Courage (Ed Cole, book and workbook) · Maximized Manhood (Ed Cole) · Effective Men’s Ministry (GPH) · Out of the Depths of Sexual Sin (Steve Gallagher) · Blueprint Strategy for Ministering to Men (HonorBound Leadership Book) AND ANY TWO OF THE FOLLOWING · Uprising (Erwin McManus) · Man in the Mirror (Patrick Morley) · Other Patrick Morley books · Other Ed Cole books · The 7 Secrets of Effective Fathers (Ken Canfield) · The Measure of a Man (Gene Gentz) · How To Build A Life-Changing Men’s Ministry (Steve Sonderman) · Preparing To Win (Video series) How To Start Champions Step 1: Each man must obtain his pastor’s approval and sign a covenant with his pastor to be a Champion. Step 2: Each man must complete the 10 required resources and any 2 of the recommended list. Step 3: Each man needs to be involved in a group of men committed to one another and their growth in Christ. These studies can be done individually, but it is recommended that men network with other men in this process of discipleship. Step 4: Each man must become a Champion of Missions. A man must find ways of being missions minded and support that vision. We ask you to see South Texas HonorBound as your monthly Missions project and support HonorBound on a monthly basis. Completion Of Resources: A Commissioning Service will be scheduled to honor the men who have shown their commitment to grow as godly men and who support the HonorBound Department monthly. In the Commissioning Service, you will be presented with a sword, which is representative of the Word of God you have put into your life and the call we have as believers to reach others. This service can be done within the local church or at a district men’s retreat. After your commissioning, you are to make disciples by bringing others (men) into the circle of Champions.
